During times of high (or low) water, there are two web sites you can visit to check the water level.
The USGS maintains a gauge on the Huron River at the Hamburg Road bridge. Data from the gauge is reported here.
The National Weather service site reports data from the same gauge as above. When the river is at or near flood stage, the NWS will provide a forecast of the river height, so you can see when the river should crest and start receding. This page also lists the top historic crests, and the most recent crests. The current (as of June, 2021) top 20 historic crests are:
